The Manly Sea Eagles have officially confirmed the extension of point-scoring machine Reuben Garrick on a massive four-year deal that will keep him on the Northern Beaches until the end of 2027.

Rumours of the hefty extension surfaced almost immediately after reports that the Newcastle Knights were going to make an offer for Garrick to play fullback in mid-October.

Though the proposed terms of the Manly deal were published in the immediate aftermath, the club has only made it official today.

“Reuben is a very important player at Manly and we are thrilled to have secured his services for a further four years,” CEO Tony Mestrov said in a club statement.

“He is well-respected by his team-mates. Reuben is a professional and dedicated athlete who we see as a natural leader amongst our playing squad.”

Reuben Garrick shows off the “Everyone in League” jersey which the Manly Sea Eagles will wear agiainst the Sydney Roosters in Round 20, 2022.

Garrick has displayed plenty of talent and versatility since joining the club in 2019. He claimed the Dally M Winger of the Year and NRL Top Pointscorer awards in 2021.

That season he also broke Matthew Ridge’s club record for points in a season with 334, falling just eight points short of the all-time record of 342, set by Hazem El Masri during the Bulldogs’ 2004 premiership run – though he did surpass El Masri’s regular season points haul.

Garrick has also filled in capably as a fullback during the injury and representative absences of Tom Trbojevic.

The 25-year-old has played 91 matches for the Sea Eagles so far, putting him in line for his 100th NRL appearance in 2023.
